Budget Tips, Saving Money on Promo

  • Dec 1, 2016

Everyone wants to save money and time whenever possible. When it comes to working with a print provider like us, Inkfinity Printing, we want to save time and money too. Fortunately, what saves you time and money will also save us time and money… we both win! Here are some tips and things to consider to help your bottom line.

  • Know Your Budget.
Your budget is a critical starting point. With a dollar figure in mind, you can quickly highlight and rule out custom apparel and promotional items that are best suited for your needs. We will always ask our customers if there is a budget they need to adhere to, most times there is. In knowing that, we are able to source and piece together packages giving you the best bang for the buck. There are many things that dictate price-per-piece. For example, if you are in the market for custom t-shirts, and you want as many shirts as you can get within your budget, it might make sense to go with a value tee instead of an American Apparel style which would more than double the cost each. No matter what the product is, knowing your budget will help aim those desires to the right promotional product for your branding needs.
  • Know Your Intended Value.
Your intended value of your promotional product is just as critical as the budget. What do we mean by intended value? Most simply put, we mean the value that the end-user will associate to the product and your brand. For example, if you’re hosting a sporting event and you want each attendee to have a takeaway, you probably wouldn’t land on a leather portfolio or corporate gift-set. Instead, you might lean more towards something more relatable like sports bottlesrally towels, or pom-poms with your branding custom printed on the item. Keeping the intended value in mind will help direct your marketing initiatives and leave a lasting impression on your audience.
  • Have Design Files Ready to Send.
Design files are arguably the single most overlooked necessity when it comes to entering production. Not having the correct files in the correct format can quickly add time and money to your project. A low resolution JPG or PNG will not give you the best print outcome. If you paid someone to design anything, be it a logo, shirt design, branding element, etc, you should always request the design files to be sent to you. Sometimes that file type will end in .AI or .EPS, which you will not be able to do much with. BUT KEEP IT! Those are design files that should be in vector format, meaning that no matter how large the print is or how much you zoom in, you will never lose resolution or have a pixelly print. Those types of files are also editable from a graphic design standpoint allowing printers to properly setup the print files. Again, if you ever pay design or setup fees, ask for those files… you paid for it! We always send design files to customers. It can also save you future costs down the road if working with another print provider or need to repurpose the design for something else.
  • Know Your In-Hands Date.
Knowing your in-hands date will help eliminate any surprises. Since we guarantee in-hands dates with a 100% money back guarantee, that is the first thing we ask. Sometimes your in-hands date might not be possible and you will know from the start. The more you know the better off you are in the long run. Depending on your timeline, your order may need to be rushed. But knowing that upfront will place the necessary urgency to get your order into production as soon as possible without accruing additional rush fees.
  • Plan Ahead.
Sometimes the inevitable happens. Murphy’s Law. The more you are able to plan ahead, the better. Even if you know you won’t be able to place an order until a month from now, why not go ahead a get the ball rolling? You have nothing to lose. If your budget won’t allow for the order until next month, there’s no harm in getting everything ready up to the point of production. Then, when the budget allows, your order is ready to go!

We hope these things will help you out in your branding and marketing endeavors.
